More than 3,000 paddlers splashed out on Bedok Reservoir over the weekend in this year's Singapore Dragon Boat Festival. Among the races on Sunday was the 1,000-metre Prime Minister's Challenge Trophy.
Nanyang Technological University won the men's event.
The team trained extra hard for the event in memory of two members, Poh Boon San and Stephen Loh, who died in the dragon boat accident in Cambodia last year.
The university is also setting up an endowment fund in memory of the two paddlers.
Two bursaries worth S$4,000 will be given to financially needy students of the NTU Dragon Boat Team to help them complete their studies or participate in the sport.
